Meghan gives an award to her wedding dress designer at British fashion week 2018!
Clare Waight Keller, artistic director at Givenchy, received the British designer of the year – womenswear award on Monday from Meghan Markel, whose dress she designed for her wedding to Prince Harry.
“It is such a pleasure to be here celebrating British fashion,” The Duchess of Sussex, said at the star-studded annual Fashion Awards at the Albert Hall.
She praised Waight Keller for leading on the global stage with vision and creativity.
The former US actress also paid tribute to “the incredible kindness” of Waight Keller.
“When I met her for the first time 11 months ago I knew we would be working very closely together,” she added.
The Birmingham-born designer became the first female artistic director of French fashion house Givenchy in 2017. In her acceptance speech, Waight Keller thanked the Duchess for trusting in her when it came to making her wedding dress.
“To have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is just the most unbelievable honour,” she said. “I can’t thank you enough.”
